Interview with Chemmy Alcott
Snowsport GB: How long have you been skiing?
Chemmy Alcott: Since I was 18 months (and no, I am not exaggerating - was very much an early starter in life!)
What is your preferred discipline?
I love the diversity of skiing everything!
What are your skiing aspirations?
To win an Olympic GOLD medal - a dream I have had since I was a kid, to prove that you can be BRITISH and be the BEST in a winter sport!
What is your nickname?
Chemmy (My real name is Chimene (named after Sophia Loren's character in El Cid)), Chems.
If you were not a ski racer what would you be doing?
Probably another sport, I would definitely be an athlete - I love everything about training and dedicating your life to achieving something. But if I couldn't do something physical I would love to be involved in television.
Who is your secret crush?
Emile Hirsch, love lesser known actors - and he is a pretty handy skate boarder!
What's on your ipod?
Everything and everyone from Britney to Jack McManus to Metallica to Three Litre (a band who wrote a very amusing song about me after the Salt Lake City Olympics 2002!) I even have Sir Clive Woodward's autobiog 'Winning' for a little motivation when things get tough!
What is your favourite food?
Sushi, Thai, my brother's Banofee Pie
Can you tell us something no-body else knows about you?
If I tell you everyone will know!! My smiley exterior is sometimes a cover - I am pretty focused and determined to succeed.
What song is most likely to make you move on the dance floor?
Shakira - my butt will start shaking uncontrollably!
What can you be heard saying most often e.g. your favourite catchphrase/motto
'The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.'
Or more likely - 'Honestly its true, no exaggeration!!'
Smiling is free - abuse that!
What advice would you give to young skiers?
I am not at the top of skiing, nowhere near where I believe I can get to, but it's definitely been a long, sometimes tough but very fulfilling journey but don't think it comes easily. It takes lots of hard work and perseverance - so stick to your dreams and fight through the tough days - I believe it will be worth the effort.
