British Speed Skier Number 1!!!

Britain’s Marc Poncin has been crowned the overall World Cup winner in the Speed Skiing Production category, Marc sealed the title with a dominate performance in Verbier, Switzerland on the 17th April after what has been a long, hard season.

Marc excelled throughout the season winning 43 or the 46 races held in the Production Category and beating big names along the way such as Switzerland’s Jonothan Moret, the 4th fastest speed skier in history, current World Champion Marcus Munzer of Germany and current world record holder in SD1 Mathieu Sage of France.

Switching categories at the start of the season, Marc made a strong start finding a place on the podium in the first two races, form which he continued throughout the season.

Marc stated “I am delighted with my results, it has not been an easy season for anyone within speed skiing, after tragically loosing my good friend and team mate Catlin Tovar in a fluke accident last season.  It has been tough finding the motivation to compete again but I am now looking to next season, my main aim is to win the World Championships in Vars, France”.
