The International Ski Federation (FIS) is based in Oberhofen, Switzerland. It's main purpose is to promote the sport of skiing, primarily in it's competitive form. The FIS established the rules for international ski competition and to organise World Cup and World Championship events.
The FIS has over 100 member national associations, of which Snowsport GB is one. The Snowsport GB is the only representative of the FIS in the UK.
The FIS website (http://www.fis-ski.com/) is the most comprehensive source of information with respect to forthcoming international events, results - past and present - and world ranking lists.
British Olympic Association
The British Olympic Association are the International Olympic Committee's representative in the UK. They are responsible for the selection of management of the Olympic Team for Great Britain and Northern Ireland at Olympic Games - both Summer and Winter - more commonly known as Team GB.
Snowsport GB work with the BOA to set selection criteria and provide sports specific staff for Olympic Winter Games.
The BOA have recently set up an Overseas Training Base in Lofer, Salzburgerland, which was created specifically with wintersports athletes in mind. The base was established in 2001 and remain until the Turin Winter Games in 2006.
